Euan has been with Orbis Support for 4 years now since leaving Northern Counties School in 2020.
Euan is profoundly deaf, has ADHD and Autism. He is a triplet and has a sister and brother. As Euan matured his expectation outgrew the family’s capabilities.
Orbis provided the opportunity for Euan to live a more fulfilled life to meet his expectation of choice. This provided a valuable extension to the family unit. Euan is a BSL signer and Orbis were able to provide carers all of which are fluent in BSL skills. This was essential to Euan to enable him to communicate freely and make choices.
As Euan developed his relationships with the staff it became clear that Euan was ready to transition into an independent living setting, whilst still maintaining weekly contact with his family. Together a local property was sourced and Euan moved into his house with 8 carers from Orbis providing valuable 2:1 support around the clock.
Orbis provided the opportunity for Euan to live a more fulfilled life to meet his expectation of choice. This provided a valuable extension to the family unit.
Euan enjoys a range of activities built around a domestic setting of home life such as shopping, cleaning and D.I.Y. Euan enjoys being outdoors and visits numerous museums. He is a member of the National Trust and English heritage and visits many of their properties. Euan is supported by Orbis both in social and domestic settings.
He attends Stanley deaf club to integrate with his peers and keep his link with his deaf identity and attends their annual trip to Blackpool with support. Euan also comes with his family to Ireland on holiday at Easter and in the summer supported by Orbis carers.
We have found Orbis to be invaluable to us a family. We are delighted with Euan’s progress and freedom to access a range of activities in a safe and organised manner.
